Good News, Cruises are Back!

Guests and crew are excited to be sailing again! The cruise lines are taking a measured approach, adding ships and itineraries slowly, with the health and safety of guests and crew paramount to successful sailing. Currently, there are ocean and river cruises sailing in Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean with more to come. To date, there have been a few positive cases (positive test results) of COVID but with enhanced testing and health and safety protocols, they have been handled beautifully and there have been no outbreaks.
The back and forth between the state of Florida and the cruise lines regarding whether they should be allowed to require passengers to be vaccinated continues. Norwegian Cruise Lines recently won their lawsuit against the state of Florida and are now allowed to require all guests and crew to be fully vaccinated. Many destinations are erring on the side of caution and requiring guests to be fully vaccinated (Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Virgin Islands and UK) Personally, I’m all for doing whatever is necessary to keep my clients safe and healthy so I hope this is resolved soon.
In the meantime, the cruise lines believe the future is bright! There are currently 18 new ships scheduled to launch in 2022! Norwegian Cruise Lines' Norwegian Prima was floated out last week, check out the video:
Don’t Delay: Although there is still a bit of uncertainty related to travel, cruise bookings for 2022 are strong… stronger than they were for 2019, the year before the pandemic began. Alaska 2022 is projected to be close to a sell-out and other itinerary sales are robust as well. My advice: chances are you had to forfeit your vacation for 2020 and most of 2021. Don’t miss out on 2022. Let’s get something on the books soon!
